English writing and the errors attributed to negative transfer of Chinese set a great percentage. As we all know, writing is a process of both language activities and thinking activities, it is more difficult for Chinese students to finish their composition well with western thinking pattern and standard expressing in English. However, English composition is the basic and high standard part set in examinations, it is crucial for English teachers to help college students find and correct errors caused by negative transfer of Chinese. As for English and Chinese, they belong to different families and have great difference. Chinese students habitually used Chinese thinking pattern and grammar structure to write their English co petition, so negative transfer of Chinese influence English writing in many way. 1.2 Significance and Purpose of the Study As for Chinese students, English is one of the most important course to study. Among the basic four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) to learn English, writing is consider as the most difficult one. Generally, Chinese students try their best to improve their writing skill. They usually recite words and phrases, even paragraph in order to promote their composition. However, it is also difficult for them to write composition likes native language learners. In fact, Chinese learners usually write composition with Chinese thinking pattern, and they just translate Chinese into English. In this way, there exists all kinds of Chinglish (English and Chinese) phenomenon because of negative transfer of Chinese on English writing. Consequently, many errors occur during their unconscious translation from Chinese to English. Of course, it is also a big burden to teachers in correcting students'
